What Is Peer Support?

Peer support is when people who have gone through similar things help each other. For people who have had a stroke, peer support can come from other stroke survivors, caregivers, or family members.

In a peer support group, people who have had a stroke meet to share hope and help each other. Because they have had similar experiences, they can understand and support each other in a way that is helpful.

Remember: Peer support is one part of your care. It is not a replacement for professional emotional or psychological care.
